Now that i'm on this myspace tip...i found an old friend's page and blog. He is someone that i've always admired and looked to for inspiration. I took this from his blog.
"To be a gentleman
Growing up in Switzerland, Canada, Trinidad and England, I was taught to be a gentleman by my Dad, Mom and Grandmother. Often being a gentleman is mistaken for being a "nice" guy. These two very different things. Here are the simple rules to being a gentleman....
1.) Be confident and never boast b/c that's just plain grandstanding.
2.) Treat ur woman like a lady - love her, respect her, protect her, care for her and cherish her. She is ur mate and the essence of romance.
3.) Love ur children unconditionally - no compromise on this - give them everything they need to succeed in life. They will be the ones left to carry on ur legacy.
4.) Be polite to everyone - even to those who are rude to you. It takes a much bigger man to control one's ego.
5.) Sometimes gentlemen must do things they dont want to do but it is for the best in the long run.
6.) Always take responsibility for one's actions - if u fuk up, apologize immediately.
7.) Have the highest integrity for one's self worth - take the higher road under questionable opportunities/circumstances/situations
A gentleman is a true bad ass BUT with confidence, determination, honesty, and integrity. It is not easy to be one and many don't care to be because discipline is required. For those who succeed they are respected...such as Sean Connery, Mel Gibson, Pierce Brosnan, Orlando Bloom, Hugh Jackman, Denzel Washington, George Clooney, Bruce Lee and John Travolta to name a few.
Call me old fashion but I appreciate this."
Words of wisdom.
