  • All You Can Eat Karaoke and My Urban Beijing Club Experience

Yeah thats right. Only in China could they develop such a concept.
Everything was good except my singing.

    Beijing’s Club Mix:
I went to a Hip Hop Night this week at this club. The style is very different from the TDOT. The venue was unbelievable to say the least. I have to say Beijing knows how to design clubs they don’t cheap out whatsoever. Sound and lighting were state of the art…The decor was pimp with a nice dance floor and plenty of VIP tables…The bartenders juggle flaming bottles of alcohol while jumping around on top of the bar which was set on fire with pyrotechnics firing out from behind the bar…Beijing does it BIG

    the Crowd:
Most of the crowd know hip hop style and i think dress with so much more style and taste compared to the typical clubbers you see. China is still considered a developing country and this is why they are still developing their urban dancing skills. Most of the girls can dance although some haven’t clued into the fact that house dance styles with glow sticks just doesn’t match urban music. The guys need some help with some needed to just stop dancing completely. I’ve heard that Beijing’s music scene has been mainly punk for a decade, this might be the reason why there’s no sense of rhythm. During the course of the night I taught my coworkers the westside sign, the roc sign, snapping fingers, motorcycle, leaning back, and a few other things. Apparently alot of the crowd was watching me teach the westside and roc sign…unfortunately they don’t know what songs your suppose to use these signs…Beijing wasn’t ready…I was ashamed to see the crowd throwing up the westside sign for ruff ryder anthem and the throwing up the roc for ciara…But one thing I have to say is that its all about getting down at urban clubs…Everyone dances…They dance anywhere and everywhere you can dance…The vibe is live…You feed off the crowd…I can’t remember the last time i’ve danced the entire night like that.

    the Music:
I was pleasantly surprised by the playlist. DJs used CD decks but scratched from time to time. They played alot of those remixes you find online. But it was cool hearing Juelz Santana – Fat Bitch in the club. Some remixes had chinese vocals which sounded pretty nice together. The one problem was that they would wash out the beats and then play the same beats 3 more times during the night. I think i heard 5 different remixed versions of Dre’s Next Episode. The interesting thing was that the DJ didn’t just play the normal hot tracks. He would play some songs from albums that didn’t get that media push but were still nice. I heard Asia’s Urban clubs are like that which I respect. You won’t hear the same damn crap every night. When the MC came on he controlled the crowd. He brought the crowd level up beyond what i thought could be possible. One more thing…it doesn’t matter where you are in the world I still don’t like reggaeton.

After a fun night out I felt the pain at work earlier today. I think i had like 7 coffees to keep awake. I have no idea how people can do this every night in China but they do.

Hip Hop lifestyle is blowing up in China and like everything they are catching up quicktime.
