  • All You Can Eat Karaoke and My Urban Beijing Club Experience

Yeah thats right. Only in China could they develop such a concept.
Everything was good except my singing.

    Beijing’s Club Mix:
I went to a Hip Hop Night this week at this club. The style is very different from the TDOT. The venue was unbelievable to say the least. I have to say Beijing knows how to design clubs they don’t cheap out whatsoever. Sound and lighting were state of the art…The decor was pimp with a nice dance floor and plenty of VIP tables…The bartenders juggle flaming bottles of alcohol while jumping around on top of the bar which was set on fire with pyrotechnics firing out from behind the bar…Beijing does it BIG

    the Crowd:
Most of the crowd know hip hop style and i think dress with so much more style and taste compared to the typical clubbers you see. China is still considered a developing country and this is why they are still developing their urban dancing skills. Most of the girls can dance although some haven’t clued into the fact that house dance styles with glow sticks just doesn’t match urban music. The guys need some help with some needed to just stop dancing completely. I’ve heard that Beijing’s music scene has been mainly punk for a decade, this might be the reason why there’s no sense of rhythm. During the course of the night I taught my coworkers the westside sign, the roc sign, snapping fingers, motorcycle, leaning back, and a few other things. Apparently alot of the crowd was watching me teach the westside and roc sign…unfortunately they don’t know what songs your suppose to use these signs…Beijing wasn’t ready…I was ashamed to see the crowd throwing up the westside sign for ruff ryder anthem and the throwing up the roc for ciara…But one thing I have to say is that its all about getting down at urban clubs…Everyone dances…They dance anywhere and everywhere you can dance…The vibe is live…You feed off the crowd…I can’t remember the last time i’ve danced the entire night like that.

    the Music:
I was pleasantly surprised by the playlist. DJs used CD decks but scratched from time to time. They played alot of those remixes you find online. But it was cool hearing Juelz Santana – Fat Bitch in the club. Some remixes had chinese vocals which sounded pretty nice together. The one problem was that they would wash out the beats and then play the same beats 3 more times during the night. I think i heard 5 different remixed versions of Dre’s Next Episode. The interesting thing was that the DJ didn’t just play the normal hot tracks. He would play some songs from albums that didn’t get that media push but were still nice. I heard Asia’s Urban clubs are like that which I respect. You won’t hear the same damn crap every night. When the MC came on he controlled the crowd. He brought the crowd level up beyond what i thought could be possible. One more thing…it doesn’t matter where you are in the world I still don’t like reggaeton.

After a fun night out I felt the pain at work earlier today. I think i had like 7 coffees to keep awake. I have no idea how people can do this every night in China but they do.

Hip Hop lifestyle is blowing up in China and like everything they are catching up quicktime.

  • What Goes Around Comes Around…

Today I found out that the GM is fired. He is being escorted out of the building as I write this blog. I was instructed to return to my room for security purposes. He was dismissed due to his alcohol abusive conduct. It is one thing to drink, its another to drink and return to your workplace screaming:

    english translations:
    “fuck this fuck that”
“if they fire me i’ll get their business licence removed”
“i’m the greatest you all suck”
“lets go find some japanese hos to have some fun with”
“if you don’t drink with you don’t bother coming to work tomorrow”
“fuck your dead mother have a drink with me”

So Mr. Baudmon got canned. The New Year is starting off with good news.

My Chinese New Year Trip to Shanghai and Guangzhou was fun. It consisted of alot of eating, some drinking, traveling, sight seeing and much needed sleep.

    Shanghai was amazing. Picture this:
The entire population of Toronto having fireworks and fire crackers shooting them off all at the same time all night long. Now imagine seeing that from an airplane taking off. It was beautiful.

Unfortunately the one night that my friend called me i had a little too much to drink during dinner and passed out really early.

Guangzhou was a nice change of atmosphere. Every speaks cantonese there so i felt more at home there. The prices for everything there is alot cheaper than shanghai and beijing. You can live like a king if you made $1500CAD a month.

Both cities were really quiet compared to normal because alot of people went back to their homes for the new year. The news said that over 300 million chinese migrated home this new year.

anyways i just got the call to return back to work.

    more blogs to come later.

  • Recognize and Realize

“The forbearing use of power does not only form a touchstone, but the manner in which an individual enjoys certain advantages over others is a test of a true gentleman.”

“The power which the strong have over the weak, the employer over the employed, the educated over the unlettered, the experienced over the confiding, even the clever over the silly – the forbearing or inoffensive use of all this power or authority, or a total abstinence from it when the case admits it, will show the gentleman in a plain light.”

“The gentleman does not needlessly and unnecessarily remind an offender of a wrong he may have committed against him. He cannot only forgive, he can forget; and he strives for that nobleness of self and mildness of character which impart sufficient strength to let the past be but the past. A true man of honour feels humbled himself when he cannot help humbling others.”

  • Chinese New Year in China

New Year is this weekend. I will be going to Shanghai and Guangzhou to visit my family there. I’m pretty excited to get out of the hotel for a while. Living at the place I work is not the best situation. There are Pros to this situation like waking up later for work and after work just going up to your room but you don’t get a break from work.

Dinnertime conversation consists of what happened at work. At least once a week there is a business dinner or dinner with a coworker that consists of talking about work. If I sleep in on the weekend everyone at work knows. If I go out everyone knows. Now think about my laundry. Yes everyone knows. I bought some new year presents to give to my training managers and everyone knew about it before I gave them out. I stopped eating breakfast in the morning to get some more sleep. The manager of the Food and Beverage department came up to me and asked if i didn’t like the food or if something was wrong with the food.

I hear the lobby music in my head when i shower. Just need a break from this place right now.

I’m not sure why but for some reason it seems like everyone is very busy and works hard at their jobs but nothing really gets done. I’m still trying to figure that one out.

I found this video somewhere in my quest to find street racing:

Japan looks like its alot of fun. Chasing cops without any fear. CRAZY!

For all those in Toronto hope you have a great Chinese New Year Celebration whatever you do.

If thats not your bowl of rice…try this:
